Theyyam is an ancient folk ritualistic dance form combining theatre and mime. There are 400 different types of Theyyam. In June 2025, an intricate Theyyam costume and headdress belonging to the "Muchilottu Bhagavathi" type was developed in the UK for the first time by Edward Poduthas and were used in Theyyam performances as part of  14 different community programs organised across 12 locations in the UK. 

8700 people witnessed "Muchilott Bhagavathi" Theyyam in the UK. With the new R&D project, the aim is to reach 10,000 audience/public engagement for Theyyam in the future.
